G'day

I've started this topic as a way of introducing the Groove magazine, and to let people know that we really appreciate contributions.

The Groove comes out 11 times a year (we have a break in January) and is the magazine for BASEQ members. It is packed with information on blues around our way - South East Queensland - and as much as we can beyond SEQ. We publish the Groove in two formats - printed, which is posted out to members who request it that way, and PDF, which is sent over the internet to those that prefer their information electronically.

If you are a non-member but interested in what BASEQ is up to or would like to get our views of the blues in SEQ, just send me an e-mail at president@bluesqld.com and I will send you a complimentary PDF copy. We have a policy that people who ask for complimentary copies do not end up on our database of names. Of course, we'd love it if you decide to get on our database, i.e. join BASEQ!

If you have a flair for writing about the blues we welcome contributions - we love CD reviews, news about what is happening in the blues scene, gig reviews, articles about blues playing and techniques, etc etc so please send us information.

If you want to post information here in the BASEQ Forum under "the Groove" (i.e. where you are at the moment), we can pick this up and use what we can for the magazine. But please clearly indicate in the header that you are offering material for the Groove otherwise we may not pick it up.

Thanks for stopping by the BASEQ Forum.

Smiley  Hi all,  Retroboy here......happy New Year !

I attended the Jubilee Jam on the 18th of January and caught up with some old friends and some new acts, it was a pleasant way to bring in another year of good Blues music.

I also took the opportunity to re new my membership and forked out the $ 25 to do so, good value at this price. I also picked up a copy of 'The Groove'. And here is my question.....On the 'Classifieds' page there is a section apparently devoted to 'musicians adverts'. There is a caption that encourages Blues Club Members to advertise themselves as 'available' to either 'join a band' or 'recruit others for a band'. I became interested in the possibilities of utilising this facility but couldn't help noticing that no one had yet placed an advert in this section. Can any one on the forum provide further insight into the history of this 'classifieds facility' and is it a free service for members.

cheers,

Retroboy.
